Families Visiting the Library

Explore everything the library has to offer for families in our community, from engaging programs and hands-on activities to books, games, and resources that bring everyone together.

Borrow an Experience
Planning your next family outing? Check out our Experience Kits! Provided by the Allegheny County Library Association, each kit offers free admission for two adults and six children to museums and historical sites across the Pittsburgh region. It’s an easy way to enjoy new adventures together. To learn more about borrowing an Experience Kit, click here.

During the summer months, families can also take part in RAD Summer Staycation, which offers free tickets to select museums, gardens, and cultural attractions. Tickets are limited, but new ones are added regularly, so check back often! More information on Summer Staycation can be found here.

Books, Games & More
The library is full of stories and discoveries for every member of the family. From board books and early readers to chapter books, graphic novels, and parenting titles, our shelves are stocked for all ages and stages.

Families can enjoy some in-library fun at our puzzle station or with some board games. There’s always something to do together, whether it’s starting a new jigsaw puzzle, playing a quick board game, or exploring creative technology with our 3D printer.

Programs & Events
From storytimes and seasonal crafts to STEM activities and family events, our programs are designed to engage, entertain, and bring families together. We also offer clubs, workshops, and special events for kids, teens, and caregivers. Check out our Events Calendar!
