Get A Library Card

With a free library card, you can request physical items from any library in Allegheny County and pick them up at the Jefferson Hills Public Library, access the Allegheny County Library Association’s extensive eLibrary, and check out books at any library in the county.

Any adult resident of Pennsylvania can sign up for a free library card either in person or online.  A caregiver’s signature is required for any minor under the age of 18 to register for a library card.

Register in Person

Visit the Jefferson Hills Public Library during our regular business hours and present a form of a photo ID and proof of residence if your current address is not included on your ID.

Accepted forms of photo ID include:

  • PA driver’s license
  • PA identification card
  • Other US state’s driver’s license
  • Expired PA driver’s license, if accompanied by local address verification (see policy)
  • Passport
  • State ID
  • Military ID
  • Work ID
  • Student ID
  • Work Visa
  • Green Card

Register Online

Register for a new library card online through our catalog.  Your online registration will immediately give you access to eBooks, downloadable materials, and other electronic resources.  After you’ve registered, you can start placing holds online or visit a library in person to check out books, DVDs, music, and a wide variety of other resources.
